Dovrefjell
Join a guided wildlife safari in Dovrefjell, Norway.
The Norwegian mountains of Dovrefjell invite for various wildlife experiences. On a tailor-made tour with me as your guide, you will meet various species from the marshes to the peaks.
In the last six years, I have spent many days and weeks with a backpack and a tent in these mountains. When joining me in the field you profit from my experience as a photographer and my background in biology.
Diverse Wildlife!
Summer Guiding
Summer and Spring bring many migratory birds to the mountains, such as dotterels or golden plovers. This is the time to join a tour to see and photograph everything from the size of a meadow pipit and up to the mighty muskoxen.
Take contact to join a tour that will be designed to your wishes. If moose in the early mornings, or plovers and muskoxen in golden sunsets, I will use my knowledge and experience to give you the best chances for success.
When the days shorten in Fall and the colours explode in red, orange and yellow, the muskoxen and moose become our main photo target. It is the time for the rut and mating of the muskoxen. On a trip with me you will get the opportunity to capture these animals in beautiful conditions, and to witness captivating behaviour.
Fall Guiding
Colourful Fall!
The cold winter on Dovrefjell comes close to the natural home of the muskoxen: the Arctic. Strong winds howl and temperatures fall below -20° celsius. It might be a hard time to be outside, but it is a beautiful time to photograph the muskoxen. The days are short, but the lighting conditions are stunning! It is the time of the year that asks the most of the animals staying here for the winter, and not everyone is sure to see the next spring.
Join me on a trip to experience a landscape painted by snow, and to witness an animal that braves this habitat against all odds.
Details in the schedule can change due to weather conditions in the mountains. We will adjust our route and plans accordingly.

What do my guests think?
"The fact that I returned home with such a life-long experience and photos is largely thanks to my tour guide, Gunnar. From the first emails, he has provided all the necessary information. Knowing the landscape well, he guided me around the breathtaking habitats of the Dovrefjell National Park. I received theoretical information and knowledge from him about the history of the landscape, local natural values, and he provided me with practical advice on photography techniques, thanks to which I was able to take wonderful nature/wildlife/landscape photos. Gunnar is helpful, experienced, confident, precise, well-prepared, I highly recommend him to everyone as a tour guide!"
- Zsombor Boromisza, Summer Guest
"I had a wonderful two days with Gunnar in the mountains of Dovrefjell. Our days were full, starting with moose very early in the morning, and continuing on to searching for muskoxen until sunset. Gunnar is very knowledgeable about both the animals and the terrain - we found the muskoxen quickly and were able to photograph them safely and ethically for many hours. Gunnar is also excellent company, and shared many stories and historical facts about the Dovrefjell area and greater Norway as well. The entire experience was worthwhile and I would join him again on any guided photography adventure."
